Commissioner Tommy Hahn also donated approximately 30 burgers and fries to the Texas National Guard members who worked the testing site from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Saturday.

A couple of months ago, Sheridan Lions Club invited CCEMS to have a presentation at their meeting to explain to them what the Special Operations Division was all about, which peaked their interest. With the Lions Club’s recent donation, CCEMS was able to buy an entire set of gear for one specialist which includes a dry suit, a personal floatation device, shoes and helmet among other things.
Read moreIn 2008, Trinity Church, a pretty little country church located out amongst the blue bonnets and red blankets of Colorado County in Weimar (New Bielau), welcomed Pastor Jon Siemsglusz, a retired Lutheran pastor from Brenham, to lead the flock. Pastor Jon and his wife, Kathleen, were warmly welcomed into the community of believers and instantly became a part of the church family. In a time when the major denominations and mega churches were losing their members, Trinity has steadily increased in membership. New folks immediately mention how warmly Pastor Jon and his powerful preaching of the word welcomed them! Keep in mind this is not his first retirement. In addition to pastoring Lutheran churches in Brenham, after his “first” retirement, he worked as a special education assistant in Brenham ISD. He then became the Pastor of Trinity Church. His congregation says Siemsglusz most definitely deserves a long and happy retirement, and they will miss him terribly. Courtesy

Read moreA Brighter Day Daycare of Columbus has some exciting news for the community. Daycare owner Beverley McMillian (pictured) said the daycare has been approved as an at-risk licensed childcare facility. It has been further approved to offer free lunches to students in need of a nutritious meal. The program is called Grab-N-Go Lunch. The Grab-N-Go Lunch will be available Monday through Friday from noon to 2 p.m., and started Monday, Apr. 6.
