Read moreKim Bubela and the team at Anytime Fitness in Schulenburg recently challenged club members and community members to participate in their annual Dry-Tri to benefit Turtle Wing Foundation. Each club offered a three-day window where athletes of all skill levels signed up to complete as individuals or as a team. A Dry-Tri is an indoor triathlon. In this event the participants completed a 3.1-mile treadmill run, 2000-meter row, and a five-mile stationary bike ride. Proceeds from the event along with additional donations made by participants were recently presented to Turtle Wing Founda tion founder and president, DeeAnn Hooper. The 2021 Dry-Tri raised $2,100! Turtle Wing Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization which helps individuals with academic, social-emotional, behavioral and/or developmental needs and provided Early Intervention and Supplemental Services to almost 300 individuals last year with thousands more being impacted by Community Education and Advocacy programming. Read moreCounty Commissioners and County Judge Ty Prause proclaimed Oct. 4 as World Habitat Day in Colorado County. Colorado County Habitat for Humanity directors were on hand for the proclamation. The first Monday in October was declared by the United Nations General Assembly to be World Habitat Day 36 years ago in order to recognize the vast housing need in cities around the world. Colorado County Habitat for Humanity is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary of building homes in the County, and has partnered with 27 families to build their own affordable homes.“Housing is more than just a roof; it’s the opportunity for better lives and a better future,” Colorado County Habitat for Humanity’s Scott Mattingly said.
