On Sep. 3, at approximately 1:31 a.m., Joshua Solis conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 90 A near Rock Island. After further investigation, Christopher Lane Filla, 31 of Schulenburg, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated 2nd Offense. Case cleared by arrest.

Read moreThe Columbus Golf Association had good financial news to report at the Oct. 12 Columbus City Council meeting. Jim Stein, President of the Columbus Municipal Golf Association, reported a total income of $30,056, gross profit of $15,963, expenses totaling $11,769 and a net income of $4,194 for the month of September. “Our revenue is up, membership is up and we are in the black for the year,” Stein shared. The Golf Association was not approved for the LCRA grant, but Stein said the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department grant the association applied for is still pending.
