Read moreAustin County Regional Special Response Team (SRT) executed an arrest warrant Thursday August 10, 2023 at approximately 11:00 am at the 1900 block of Bowie Street in Columbus, Texas. The operation was the result of an ongoing narcotics investigation by the Westside High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA), a Narcotics Task Force. Suspect by the name of Ray Coleman age 43, was located and arrested on active warrant for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. This task force covers four counties and is comprised of investigators from Austin County Sheriff’s Office, Bellville PD, Sealy PD, Hempstead PD, Waller County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, and DEA. The Colorado County Attorney’s Office assisted with the investigation along with local authorities joining to assist with the operation as well.

Read moreAs the extreme, prolonged drought throughout the region continues, the Lower Colorado River Authority has entered Stage 2 of its drought response and is asking its water customers to cut back water use by 10%-20%. “This is a serious drought, and everyone needs to step up and do their part to reduce water use,” said John Hofmann, LCRA executive vice president of Water. “We have enough water, but we don’t have enough water to waste.”
