After falling to first-place Industrial earlier this year, the Cards made sure to stay perfect the rest of the way to give their rematch in the last game of the season some higher stakes. With a win against undefeated Industrial, the Cards would share with them a tie for the best record in the district at 13-1. The Feb.11 win against Tidehaven was that much more important as the Cards’ 59- 48 triumph created the opportunity for their fateful meeting against Industrial.

After finishing regular time 0-0 on the scoreboard, the Cards needed a penalty kick shootout to decide their battle. Columbus knocked in two penalties to Hempstead’s one, securing the win.
