A virus rendered us unaware: Lives were lost, businesses and schools were closed, jobs were dissolved, unemployment ran rampant, a tumultuous presidential election, a divided country, and an uncertain future cast a long, dark shadow over most of 2020. It’s hard to see the forest for the trees when the lines seem blurred. However, we are America. We are Texas, and we are Colorado County. The new year, 2021, is just a mark on the calendar but it’s a good place to start at beginning again together.

In response to emergency rules that have limited family access to long-term care facilities, State Representative James B. Frank (R - Wichita Falls) and State Senator Lois W. Kolkhorst (R - Brenham) last week filed HB 892, HJR 46, SB 267 and SJR 19 in an effort to strengthen the rights of facility residents to maintain contact and personal visits with their loved ones during state emergencies.
