Read moreThe VFW Auxiliary Post No. 5875 in Weimar sponsored two art contests for local youths. Illustrating America was the contest for first through eighth graders. Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest was the contest for high school students. The children were asked to illustrate what America represents. The first through third place winners in each category received a certificate, check, patriotic pin and a flag sticker. All other participants received flag stickers. There were 128 entries in the three categories. The children did an outstanding job and the judges had a difficult time determining the winners. The firstplace winners in each category advanced to the District level for competition.
Read moreThe Boots and Bling Gala was held Saturday, Apr. 10 at the Colorado County Fair Building. The gala benefited the Columbus FFA Alumni Scholarship. A 225-plus crowd came out to wine, dine, and dance the night away during the Boots and Bling annual fundraiser held for kids for their scholarships.
