Born Nov. 6, 1936 in El Campo to parents August and Annie Priesmeyer Pausewang, Clara passed from this life Aug. 25 at the age of 83 from a battle with Dementia. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nada, the Catholic Daughters Court No. 1595 and the Christian Mothers.

Growing up on a farm in Wharton County, Clara met the love of her life, Arthur, at a dance. They married Oct. 4, 1955 and moved to a farm in Colorado County. Clara was a true homemaker who loved to sew and bake, as well as being a gardener. She was known for her home cooked meals prepared with the abundance of fresh vegetables from her gardens.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 61 years, Arthur Mahalitc. Survivors include: sons Anthony Mahalitc and wife Cindy, Al Mahalitc and wife Janet, Calvin Mahalitc and wife Wavely, Raymond Mahalitc, and Stephen Mahalitc and wife Mary; sister Beatrice Bittner and husband Albert, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Clara be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery Fund in Nada, the Garwood Volunteer Fire Department, or to the charity of your choice.
