Read moreThe late Lesley Matthews Carey of Eagle Lake was remembered with a mural that was painted by her friends and family, and supervised by several local artists. Lesley passed away last year and this mural was painted after her death as a way of honoring her and her commitment to our communities; donating her time, efforts and financial support to many causes. The mural was originally her idea, and was to be used as a fundraising event to support the Eagle Lake League of Arts (ELLA). Funds were donated by the First National Bank of Eagle Lake, and ELLA members volunteered their time to make this mural happen. The artists who participated are Clayton Bowen and Sandra Benge. He marched his army northeast to Groce’s plantation, where he spent two weeks drilling his men and collecting more reinforcements.
