Read moreThe Apr. 22 Colorado County Mental Health First Aid class had 17 in attendance including clinic and hospital workers, family support specialists from Youth & Family Services, several private citizens and volunteers, a physician and two Master Level Social Workers. All agreed the content of the course was very helpful and would be appropriate for anyone who wants to be more comfortable and prepared to deal with a mental health crisis.
Read moreDuring the regularly scheduled commissioner’s court meeting that was held on May 10, the county was presented with the Excellence in Safety Award. Presenting the reward was Joe Szewczyk, Risk Control Consultant, and Lisa McCaig, Risk Management Consultant for the Texas Association of Counties. The award was accepted by Joyce Guthmann, County Treasurer for Colorado County. Guthmann oversees workplace safety, as well as controlling worker’s compensation claims. Thanks to her oversight, the county is one of only 11 Texas Association of Counties Risk Management Pool members statewide who has earned this award.
