Larry Willings Messersmith, 89, passed into the arms of his loving Lord Feb. 28 in New Orleans, LA. Larry was born Aug. 31, 1930 in Farnham, NE, and was predeceased by his parents, Jennie and Emry Messersmith, and his only sibling, Owen Messersmith.

Larry was a longtime resident of Frelsburg and Columbus. During that time he was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, working gladly wherever he was needed.

Larry graduated from Midland High School in 1949, and The University of Texas at El Paso in 1959. He served four years in the Navy during the Korean War. Prior to returning in 1997, he worked in the oil and gas industry.

Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to his two daughters, Larriann Messersmith Curtis and Suzanne Messersmith Poehlmann, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Larry is also survived by his wife, Lyndy Browning Messersmith and her family. All of the above family love and miss Larry very much. He also left too many friends to name, but they all know who they are.

Larry will be interred in the VA Cemetery in the near future.
