All four sons in the Yanez family of Eagle Lake served our country in the US military. Sgt, the Jesse P. Yanez (1924- 1944) was the son of Cayetano and Natividad Yanez. Jesse served in the Army air Corps in World War II as a B-17 Flying Fortress Tailgunner.

An Eagle Scout at 16, Lorell continued his leadership throughout life. Born in Tennessee, he attended Vanderbilt University and studied civil engineering. He had a family business called Memphis Concrete Silo Company. In 1955, he founded Texas Concrete Silo Company in Eagle Lake, a successful company for many years.
