GasBuddy marks a rise in average gas prices
Average gasoline prices in Texas have risen 14.8 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.04/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 15.1 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 2.8 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has declined 2.2 cents in the last week and stands at $4 per gallon.

At Texas ChalleNGe Academy, one of our eight core components is leadership/followership. Each week, cadets from each platoon are selected to be squad leader, a position that is held for a week. This person is responsible for one of the squads in his or her platoon.

Texas counties among nation’s fastest growing
Recent estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau indicate that six of the 10 fastest-growing counties in the United States from 2022 to 2023 were in Texas. According to the Texas Tribune, Kaufman County, just east of Dallas, led the list with a 7.6% increase in new residents that brought its population to more than 185,000. Census data shows that Rockwall and Liberty counties closed out the top three, with growth rates of 6.5% and 5.7%, respectively.

EL election canceled, uncontested candidates confirmed
EAGLE LAKE – The City of Eagle Lake will not have an election for certain members of the City Council after the council moved to approve the term extensions of a few uncontested candidates for the upcoming municipal elections. The Tuesday, March 12 regular meeting saw the council make several actions including confirming the uncontested candidates.
